After 23 years as the Northwest Territories’ premier home inspection business, the time has come to announce my retirement and the closure of Housecheck Professional Inspection Services, effective February 1, 2024.

Other home inspection services options are now available in Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories.

What does a home inspection include?

An inspection is a thorough visual examination of most major components of the house, including the roof, foundation, exterior and interior finishes, plumbing, heating and electrical. An inspection usually requires two to three hours.

For both pre-purchase and pre-sale inspections I evaluate more than 2000 items.  I visually inspect all accessible systems and components including:

  • structure and foundation
  • exterior finishes
  • site drainage and gutter system
  • electrical system
  • plumbing system
  • roof and attic space
  • basement and/or crawlspace
  • interior finishes
  • porches and decks

I also inspect and operate:

  • furnaces or boilers in heating season
  • plumbing fixtures in kitchens and baths
  • a representative sampling of lights and receptacles
  • a representative sampling of windows and doors

In addition I can make recommendations about the most cost-effective way to address deficiencies, if any.
